AJ's Bikes Paved Trails - General James A. Van Fleet State Trail

The Trail:

Currently 29.2 miles long with only one curve you can go slow and view wildlife, or enjoy a brisk pace.  Bring plenty of water, there are no facilities as this is one of Florida's most rural trails and part of the Florida Greenway's and Trails Rails to Trails project.  This trail will take you through cattle ranches, citrus groves, and the green swamp - the headwaters for the Withlacoochee, Hillsborough, and Peace rivers.  Said to have excellent wildlife viewing between Bay Lake Road and Green Pond Road.

Directions:

From AJ's Bikes in Valrico, Florida to Polk City Trailhead - take I-4 east to Exit 38 (old exit 20) for SR 33.  Follow SR 33 heading north into Polk City the trailhead is located at the intersection of SR 33 and CR 665.
